Jewish Senior Life Named Great Place To Work® For Second Year In A Row

Rochester, NY, August 12, 2020—The Great Place to Work Institute has honored Jewish Senior Life with certification as a Great Place to Work® for the second year in a row. The certification is based on confidential employee feedback surveys.

The Great Place to Work Institute is a global, independent research and consulting firm which is the global authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures, and publishes the annual Fortune magazine “100 Best Companies to Work For®” list.

“I’m thankful to our dedicated employees for this honor,” said Michael King, President and CEO of Jewish Senior Life. “They truly are our heroes, serving our residents and community with purpose and passion and enhancing our residents’ quality of life, health and well-being every day. We are especially proud that more than 90% of employees rated Jewish Senior Life as a ‘safe place to work.’ We intentionally conducted our employee survey during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Monroe County.”

Great Place to Work evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experience on the job for employees across the Jewish Senior Life organization, including areas such as independent living, memory care, in home companion care, and long term care. The elements included employee trust in the organization, pride in the organization’s community impact, belief that their work makes a difference, and feeling their work has special meaning. Rankings are based on employees’ experiences, no matter who they are or what they do.

Jewish Senior Life was rated particularly highly in being a physically safe place to work, contributing in positive ways to the community, providing work that has special meaning, treating staff fairly regardless of gender, and instilling overall pride in working for Jewish Senior Life.

“We prioritize employee engagement and foster a healthy workplace culture in many ways,” said Emy Giacalone, Jewish Senior Life’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Staff & Organizational Development. “We offer meaningful employee recognition programs, continuous education and career path development opportunities, and more.”

“We applaud Jewish Senior Life for seeking certification and releasing its employees’ feedback,” said Dr. Jacquelyn Kung, of Great Place to Work’s senior care affiliate Activated Insights. “These ratings measure its capacity to earn its own employees’ trust and create a great workplace for high performance.”

Jewish Senior Life is one of the largest non-profit employers in Rochester, with more than 1,000 employees.
