Dr. Brian Heppard, Vice President, Medical Affairs

Dr. Heppard joined our staff as Medical Director in 2007. Previously serving as full time faculty at the University of Rochester Medical Center/Highland Hospital, he brings extensive experience in family medicine, geriatrics and hospital and palliative medicine.Dr. Heppard also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Family Medicine at the University of Rochester. He completed his M.D. degree at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey and completed a post-graduate fellowship in geriatrics at the University of Rochester.

Debbie McIlveen, Senior Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer

Deborah McIlveen has been with Jewish Senior Life for over 20 years. She oversees financial activities here, including reimbursement, information technology, purchasing and receiving.
Debbie graduated from LeMoyne College with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. She has served on various committees of the New York State Association of Homes and Services of the Aging and has been elected to executive positions for the local chapter of the Health Care Financial Management Association.

Emy Giacalone, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Staff Development

With a focus on managing our most important resource – our employees – Emy Giacalone joined Jewish Senior Life in 2008. Emy oversees the human resources and staff development departments and brings over 15 years experience in the field to the position. She is responsible for providing the training and development of staff to meet the innovative continuum of aging programs needed for our residents and the community at large. Emy holds a Master of Science degree in Career and Human Resources Development from Rochester Institute of Technology, a Bachelors degree in Organization Development from Roberts Wesleyan College and a certificate in Labor Relations from Cornell University.

Michele Schirano, Vice President of Nursing, Jewish Home of Rochester

Michele has been with the Jewish Home since 1993 and has grown along with the organization. She started as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and then went to school and became a Registered Nurse (RN). She was a Nurse Manager for four years and an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for 8 years. Her experience and expertise make her very deserving and qualified for her new role as Vice President of Nursing, where she is responsible for overseeing all nursing department operations to ensure the quality of care of the residents of the Jewish Home.

Mark Plantholt, Vice President of Facility Services

Mark Plantholt has more than 25 years of experience in health care. He oversees the engineering, grounds, environmental services, laundry and security departments at Jewish Senior Life.
Mark also oversees all new construction, expansion and renovation projects and is currently coordinating the Quality of Life Improvement Project at the Jewish Home. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York College at Brockport in 1984.

Chris Teumer, Vice President of Information Technology

Chris Teumer joined Jewish Senior Life in 2008. He has over 20 years of experience in information technology including strategic planning, software systems design and development, project management, consulting, telecommunications, networking, and customer support services. Chris holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rochester’s Simon EDP program, a Master of Engineering degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Rochester.

Jackie Stone, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations

Jackie Stone joined Jewish Senior Life in February 2008, and has been in the senior housing field for over 18 years. She has worked in a sales and marketing capacity at various retirement communities in Rochester, and has helped other not-for-profit organizations across the country to market their communities, bringing national experience to our marketing and branding strategies. Jackie is responsible for marketing all of the programs, services, and living options offered here at Jewish Senior Life.

Samantha Standing joined the Jewish Home Foundation in January 2008, and has spent her career in the local non-profit community. She has extensive experience in all areas of fundraising, particularly with the management of annual giving programs, communications, and special event planning. Sam is responsible for the strategic direction of the Jewish Home Foundation, including donor cultivation and stewardship, board development, annual giving, grant writing and special events.
