The Jewish Home of Rochester Ranked Among Newsweek’s “America’s Best Nursing Homes”

Rochester, NY, September 29, 2021–The Jewish Home of Rochester, an affiliate of Jewish Senior Life, has been recognized by Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes 2022. Only four percent of nursing homes nationwide received this distinction.

Newsweek partnered with global data research firm Statista Inc. to establish the ranking, analyzing over 12,000 nursing homes throughout the United States. The ranking is based on three criteria: performance data, reputation and the handling of the current COVID-19 situation. This information comes from two sources: a reputation survey of industry experts (including registered nurses, administrators, and physicians) as well as data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

“Selecting the right nursing home has always been difficult, and never more so than during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Nancy Cooper, Newsweek’s Global Editor-In-Chief. “Beloved elders deserve the best care their families can provide. We hope that these rankings will help families and make the decision easier.”

“Finding the right nursing home for their loved one is an incredibly important decision for families,” said Michael King, President and CEO of Jewish Senior Life. “At the Jewish Home, the safety of our residents continues to be our first priority. We pride ourselves on the quality of care and compassion our staff provides every day. We are honored to be ranked among the best in the nation.”

The Jewish Home has also received a Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) score that ranked them in the top (First) quintile for Quality. The NHQI is an annual evaluation conducted by the New York State Department of Health (DOH), and is comprised of thirteen quality and performance measures in the components of Quality, Compliance, and Efficiency.
