Jewish Senior Life Employee Honored as Professional of the Year by LeadingAge New York

ROCHESTER, N.Y., DECEMBER 2, 2021—Jewish Senior Life announces that Christine Van Vessem, Vice President of Staff Development and Quality Management, has been honored as Professional of the Year by aging services association LeadingAge New York for her leadership, excellence and professionalism.

This award honors a long term care, housing and services professional’s contributions to the well-being of the elderly in their community.

Van Vessem, who has been with the organization for more than eight years, played an integral part in the battle against COVID-19, implementing many initiatives that protected Jewish Senior Life residents and staff. Van Vessem also leads diversity and inclusion programs including Project SEARCH, which provides on-site training and potential employment to individuals with special needs. “Christine mentors her staff, helping them grow and providing support and coaching,” says Michele Schirano, RN, Senior Vice President/Administrator, Jewish Home of Rochester. “She inspires those around her, and is a true leader.”

Van Vessem received her award at LeadingAge New York’s virtual conference held on December 1, 2021.
