FEBRUARY 21, 2022 — ROCHESTER, NY — February is American Heart Month and Jewish Senior Life residents are partnering with local home health monitoring company, Casana, for a trial of their first product. The Heart Seat™ is a cloud-connected toilet seat that captures clinically relevant measurements, including heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygenation, and cardiac output. The seats will be installed at Jewish Senior Life’s independent living community, The Summit at Brighton, with an information session taking place there on Tuesday, February 22.
Casana was introduced to Jewish Senior Life through the Jewish Senior Life Innovation Collaborative, a unique partnership with RIT’s Saunders College of Business. “An opportunity presented itself where we could work with Casana to introduce The Heart Seat™ to our community,” says Travis Masonis, Chief Information Officer at Jewish Senior Life. He continues, “This gives Casana an opportunity to work with our residents, and they are able to participate in important and innovative research to benefit their health.”
Representatives from Casana will be at The Summit from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM to provide information; and residents who wish to participate can register for the trial. A presentation, The Future of Healthcare – Where You’d Least Expect It, will commence at 1:00 PM. The Summit is located at 2000 Summit Circle Drive in Rochester.
