Jewish Senior Life Announces Dr. Daniel Mendelson as New Chief Medical Officer

MARCH 16, 2022 — ROCHESTER, NY — Jewish Senior Life announces that Dr. Daniel Ari Mendelson has joined the organization as Vice President, Medical Services & Chief Medical Officer. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing Jewish Senior Life’s Medical Department.

Dr. Mendelson has more than 20 years’ experience as Medical Director in long-term care facilities, most recently at Monroe Community Hospital. He co-founded the Geriatric Fracture Center at Highland Hospital, as well as the UR Medicine Geriatrics Group (originally Strong Health Geriatrics Group). Dr. Mendelson also was the founder of the Highland Hospital Geriatrics Palliative Care Clinic.

Dr. Mendelson is the inaugural (’16) William and Sheila Konar Family Professor of Geriatrics, Palliative Medicine, and Person-Centered Care at the University of Rochester, in recognition of his clinical, academic, research, and administrative contributions.

Dr. Mendelson has served in a number of roles with the American Geriatrics Society (AGS), including as a member of the Quality and Performance Measures Committee. He also serves on the American Hospital Association’s Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Steering Committee.

Dr. Mendelson earned his M.D. degree at the University of Rochester, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Biophysics, and trained in Primary Care Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
