(OCTOBER 24, 2022—ROCHESTER, NY) The Saunders College of Business at RIT honored Jewish Senior Life with the Outstanding Community Partner Award at its annual Recommence to honor the college’s exceptional alumni. The award ceremony on October 15 was part of the Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend events, a long-standing RIT tradition of celebrating the University’s families, students, alumni, staff, and friends.
The Outstanding Community Partner Award is given to an exemplary business, corporation, foundation, or non-profit partner of the Saunders College of Business. Recipients have shown a long-standing commitment to the employment of RIT students and alumni, have engaged in various academic research/sponsorship collaborations, and/or have philanthropically supported RIT to help foster innovation and student success.
“It was an honor to accept this award on behalf of Jewish Senior Life. RIT is a valued partner and we look forward to continuing to support students, the Saunders College of Business, and RIT while working together on innovative projects and advancements in technology that support the people we serve,” said Travis Masonis, CIO and VP of Information Technology at Jewish Senior Life. Masonis, a 2004 RIT graduate, also serves as Adjunct Faculty for RIT’s College of Health Sciences and Technology.
Jewish Senior Life and RIT have partnered for a number of years to identify ways in which innovation can improve the lives of the aging, including:
- A TekHub Project to support students and faculty to better understand elders in their use of information technologies, while offering technology support to our independent living residents at The Summit at Brighton.
- A project to address how technology can support the memory-impaired, and identifying innovations from business or technology perspectives that will result in enhancing the lives of older adults.
- Projects to test the use of robotics technology in long-term care settings.
