The Summit at Brighton to Host Industry Baking Competition

(May 5, 2023 – ROCHESTER, NY) On Tuesday, May 9, Jewish Senior Life’s independent living community, The Summit at Brighton, will compete with other Greater Rochester Partnership for the Elderly (GRAPE) members as the host of Not Your Mother’s Bake-off. Jewish Senior Life is 1 of 9 communities participating in the contest, including: Baywinde, Episcopal Senior Life, Heather Heights, Heathwood, Legacy at Parklands, Villages at Unity, Westwood Commons, and Woodcrest Commons.

“Residents want to have a restaurant-style experience when they are considering a move to a senior living community,” says Gene Trotta, Executive Director of Dining Services at Jewish Senior Life. He continues, “Having a friendly competition like this allows us an opportunity to see what our peers are offering and also learn from one another. All of us can benefit, continue to level up, and provide our seniors the high-quality dining they expect and deserve.”

Culinary teams will compete in three categories: Best Presentation, Best Creativity, and Best Taste. Each category will be judged by GRAPE members and respective winners will each receive a $100 prize. Tasting and judging will take place 2-3 p.m. followed by networking until 4 p.m. This event is $15 per person and limited to GRAPE members. The Summit at Brighton is located at 2000 Summit Circle Drive in Rochester.
