Jewish Senior Life’s Eclipse Festivities and Astronomy Club in the News

Jewish Home residents gathered outside the Farash Tower and Green House® Cottages to get a glimpse of totality during the Solar Eclipse

On Monday, Jewish Senior Life hosted a campus-wide celebration for the 2024 Solar Eclipse which was featured as a Bright Spot on 13WHAM. Dr. Al Ureles, a founding member of The Summit’s Astronomy Club, shared his knowledge and the club’s telescopes with other residents as the moon passed between the Earth and sun. The clouds may have obscured the view, but not the fun! Across campus, residents enjoyed a galactic lunch buffet, music by DJ Blaze, post-eclipse happy hour, live music by Uptown Groove, and a hot cocoa bar.

The Summit’s Astronomy Club was additionally featured in the March/April edition of (585) Magazine as part of an article on unique clubs and programs for older adults. Read more about the club here.
