Jewish Senior Life Appoints New Senior VP of Housing and Marketing

Wendy Ferrer, Senior Vice President of Housing and Marketing

(August 7, 2023—ROCHESTER, NY) Jewish Senior Life is pleased to announce that Wendy Ferrer has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Housing and Marketing. A seasoned professional with over 20 years of healthcare experience, Ferrer previously served as Vice President of Marketing and Communications. In her new role, she will direct the day-to-day functions of the independent and enriched housing communities at Jewish Senior Life to ensure the highest level of quality care.

“As a member of the senior management team, Wendy has been instrumental in developing and implementing marketing and sales initiatives that have propelled our reputation as a leader in innovative, high-quality, resident-focused services,” says Michael S. King, Jewish Senior Life President and CEO. In her new post, Ferrer will continue to lead Jewish Senior Life’s overall marketing, sales, and brand strategies. Recruitment is underway for the Director of Marketing who will lead the marketing team and report to Ferrer.

“I have found Wendy to be an active listener who is very responsive to concerns,” King comments. “I look forward to her leadership as we continue to focus on our current residents and families, while continuing to focus on enhancing our services and programs,” he adds.

Prior to joining Jewish Senior Life, Ferrer was founder and principal of Red Purse Marketing, LLC, a marketing consultancy supporting customer acquisition and retention for health care organizations and businesses. The firm’s specialties included multi-media marketing and advertising strategy, brand development and trend-setting creative campaigns, and event marketing for retirement living communities.

From 2001-2014, Ferrer rose through the management ranks at Unity Health System, where she led its marketing, sales, and customer service teams and initiatives for 70+ locations, including Unity Hospital, three skilled nursing homes, independent and assisted living communities, adult day programs, and community-based services. Ferrer went on to serve as Senior Director of Internal Communications for Rochester Regional Health, the $1 billion health system formed by the affiliation of Unity and Rochester General Health Systems.

A lifelong resident of Rochester, Ferrer received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University. She currently serves as Development Committee Chair and Board Member for the Academy of Health Sciences Charter School. Ferrer and her husband, Vincent, have two children and reside in Pittsford.
