Jewish Senior Life to Rejoice in Sweet New Year

Fourth annual Rosh Hashanah Parade will take place this Wednesday

(September 12, 2023 – ROCHESTER, NY) Jewish Senior Life will kick off the Jewish New Year two days early with its fourth annual Rosh Hashanah Parade Wednesday, September 13, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The parade is now an annual tradition after its inception during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are thrilled to welcome back members of the community this year,” says Silvana Bacman, Jewish Life and Learning Coordinator for Jewish Senior Life. Rabbi Steven Rubenstein will sound the shofar for this year’s parade, which will include: students from Hillel School and Derech HaTora, ShinShinim (Israel Emissaries), Temple Beth El, Temple Sinai, Jewish Federation of Rochester, first responders, families, staff, and an appearance from Brighton Town Supervisor, William W. Moehle.

Bacman continues, “While Rosh Hashanah is a time of celebration and renewal, we also reflect on the past year and ask for forgiveness over the next 10 days leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Every year, we look forward to hosting this parade that honors hope, happiness, and peace with our Jewish Senior Life friends and family.”

Jewish Senior Life is located at 2021 Winton Road South in Rochester, and the parade will start in the north lot before circling Farash Tower and Green House Cottages. Rosh Hashanah will officially begin at nightfall Friday, September 15.
