(October 10, 2023 – ROCHESTER, NY) On October 6, Michael S. King, President and Chief Executive Officer at Jewish Senior Life, was recognized as an Icon Honors Award Honoree by Rochester Business Journal. The Icon Honors recognize business leaders in the Greater Rochester area over the age of 60 who have demonstrated strong leadership and moved their organizations and Rochester forward through employment opportunities and making a difference in the community.

King was praised for his commitment to serving older adults and for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, “His position was difficult and challenging before the pandemic but navigating the crisis took skill, compassion, and never-ending dedication to the work. Mike was a shining star and led his organization through the most difficult time that long-term care has ever experienced,” says Ann Marie Cook, President and Chief Executive Officer at Lifespan.

King was also commended for forming Jewish Senior Life’s collaboration with Heritage Christian Services —the Project SEARCH® program, which provides hands-on training and employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. “With Mike’s leadership, countless people have developed and furthered their careers, demonstrating that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can attain careers that are fruitful, challenging, and rewarding,” says Marisa Geitner, President and Chief Executive Officer at Heritage Christian Services.

Icon Honorees must have a long-standing commitment to the Rochester business community and significant professional accomplishments through innovation and leadership. Honorees must also be champions of their industries and demonstrate sustained commitment to community service.
