ROCHESTER, NY — The Jewish Home of Rochester announces a celebration honoring seven centenarians living on our campus. They will be honored with a luncheon and musical entertainment provided by Joe Naples. A highlight of the event is a photo montage of the centenarians’ life and accomplishments.

One of the honorees is Sydney Peck. Mr. Peck was born and raised in New York City in 1914. After high school he attended City College of New York tuition free during the Great Depression. He began work as an accountant and met his wife in 1946. Sid recalls, “During the Great Depression times were very tough and many people lost their jobs. We moved to Rochester because there were more stable jobs and the price of living was much more affordable.” They settled in Brighton where they had two sons, one who is now a doctor and the other an attorney. One of Sid’s fondest memories is meeting President Clinton through his son’s job in Washington D.C. Sid enjoys watching sports and reading the newspaper. He is a huge Yankees Fan.
